Being a soldier is an honor. To risk losing life and limb to serve our country is a road only few are willing to take wholeheartedly. I would have taken that road a long time ago. Unfortunately, God has other plans for me.
I have always admired the kind of discipline, the integrity the Filipino soldiers have embodied. What I admired most is the comradeship they share with each other. It is humbling to know that there are people out there who will always have your back, who will drag you and carry you if you lose the strength to go on. People who will pool their strength together just to make sure you do not get to be left behind.
Despite not being part of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, I strived to live the way they do. To be a disciplined individual who has the courage and the strength to work hard for what every Filipino wants—peace.
Peace is not something that only soldiers have to work hard for. Every Filipino citizen should pitch in, do their share. Soldier or not, it is our duty as Filipinos to make the Philippines a peaceful country.
